The Star of Knoxville Riverboat

Added on: 13 December 2012.

Description

I saw this riverboat named " The Star of Knoxville" cruising along the Tennessee River on June 19, 2008. From the yellow banner, it looks like Honda Hooters are onboard. The river is very scenic and the boat itself is driven by the paddles in the rear as there are no propellers. From the company website, it says "These paddles are powered by twin Sinstrand Hydraulic pumps, which are powered in turn by twin 8.2 Detroit diesel engines. The Star of Knoxville is 125 feet in length, 30 feet wide and weighs 86 tons and she is capable of going 5 to 7 knots. A knot equals 1.175 miles and hour."
