Knoxville, TN — Fort Loudoun Dam is located 602 miles upstream from the mouth of the Tennessee River. The dam is a hydroelectric dam with a capacity of producing 155.6 mega watts of energy. The dam was constructed in the early 1940’s to create a passage from Knoxville, TN to Paducah, KY and also as a means of providing flood control and electricity for East Tennessee.
